One of the first things I read
about the HP film was that Alan Rickman was to play Professor Snape. The article
said that he had played the Sheriff of Nottingham, and that certainly did
ring a bell. And I thought: good choice. My idea of Snape as I got it from
the books was a little bit unidimensional, and so I looked forward to seeing
the film. I've seen it three times so far -- owing mostly to AR. The film
is very good, close to the text, but if I asked what I liked best I'd certainly
go for AR's very sensual portayal of Snape.
When Snape first
appeared in the film during the feast scene I couldn't help not liking him
anymore. I like the way he employs his eyes, hands and voice to create this
mysterious character. You can sense that AR knows more about Snape than we
do, because he conveys Snape's past -- whatever that may hold.
Oh, and I love his clothes ... usually, I don't take much to black clothes,
but this is just perfect. And those many buttons just make me wish to open
them one by one. Did you see this tiny bit of his knee in the goblin scene?
Argh ... I gotta go and write something about it ...
It didn't stop there, though, and
so I went to see what's on the Net about AR, and tried to get some of his
films.
I'm not going to put up yet another biography and filmography of his here
-- there are so many out there already that I'd like to ask you to go and
